DrBaker Guideline provides an offline clinical reference and compares user-entered case and report text with that reference. The extension does not transmit case information, uploaded files, search terms or guideline edits to the publisher or any server.
The extension processes search terms, selected website text sent through its context-menu command, patient-history text, diagnosis and service descriptions, uploaded document contents and file names. Medical documents may contain health information and personal identifiers. These inputs are used only to perform the requested local search, text extraction and reference comparison.
Patient history, report text, file names, extracted values and evidence results are held in the extension tab’s memory. They are not saved to extension storage, browser synchronization, a database, analytics or cloud services. Use Clear case to remove them from the interface and release document readers. Closing or reloading the tab clears that working case. These controls are ordinary application deletion, not a guarantee of secure erasure from operating-system memory.
Guideline additions, wording edits, deleted-topic markers and ICD-10 mappings are saved in chrome.storage.local on your device. They remain until restored or the extension is uninstalled. Exported customizations are downloaded to a file only when you request export. The export excludes patient-history and report fields. Guideline editor fields are intended for reference content; do not enter patient identifiers in saved guideline content.
Selected text and address-bar searches are passed to the local reference page through a one-time in-memory hand-off. Selected text is never placed in an extension URL or persistent storage. The hand-off is removed when consumed, when its 60-second lifetime ends, or when Chrome stops the service worker. Browser history or an address-bar search typed by you may be retained by Chrome according to your own browser settings, independently of this extension. You control browser history and downloaded files through Chrome and your operating system.
If you choose a password-protected PDF, its password is used only by the local PDF reader to open that file. The entered password field is cleared after answering the prompt. The password is not saved in extension storage, placed in a URL or transmitted to the publisher. It is not an account login.
Bundled PDF.js and Tesseract components extract PDF text and perform English/Arabic OCR locally. The extension never uploads documents, invokes remote OCR or executes scripts embedded in documents. Written radiology conclusions may be read; raw medical scan pixels are not clinically interpreted. OCR can contain errors; the transcript interface lets you correct and accept OCR text before evidence comparison.
Storage saves local guideline customizations. Context menus provide a user-invoked search command for explicitly selected text. The extension requests no website host access, browsing-history permission, clipboard-reading permission, camera, microphone or geolocation access. It has no automatic content scripts and does not monitor pages.
No user data is sold, shared with advertisers, transferred for unrelated purposes, used for creditworthiness or lending decisions, or collected by the publisher for analytics. There is no account, telemetry, subscription server or advertising. The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Opening a reference link deliberately navigates to an external publisher’s website, which has its own privacy policy. Links do not include case text and use noreferrer. Chrome’s extension distribution and updates are managed by Google under Google’s policies, independently of this extension.
